Inspector Tapehead are: Chris Croasdale – guitar; Roy Shearer – Drums, Jonnie Common – gadgetry.
Inspector Tapehead are three really lovely guys, who came together in the aftermath of the demise of Down the Tiny Steps and one incarnation of Adam Beattie’s Consultants. I first saw them at Trampoline in Edinburgh and was captivated by their strange combination of traditional music with a sort of barely contained, frantic mentalism. Duress Code was pencilled in for a Summer 2008 release and er… well, it’s here now, so stop moaning.
The band first came together in Glasgow during the winter of 2007, when Chris Croasdale decided to recruit former bandmate Roy Shearer and pop idol Jonnie Common (Down The Tiny Steps) to play some songs he had on the simmer.
They have since had the pleasure of supporting the likes of Los Campesinos! and FOUND, as well as entertaining folks at the Fence Records Homegame Festival and various guerilla-esque art events. They have also enjoyed being played on the Welsh, English and Scottish varieties of the Radio One Introducing programme.
The band plan to embark on a short tour of the UK in the Autumn of 2010
